There are certain services and products that we cannot support due to legal and/or policy reasons. In this article, we'll outline our current restrictions on two types of services: marijuana/CBD-related products and adult content.
Marijuana & CBD
We know CBD is now legal in some states, and while hemp is legal federally, states have a variety of restrictions on how payment processors handle transactions for these services and products.
Our restrictions currently include any products with CBD or THC in them, such as CBD-containing oil or tincture, topical cannabis-based products, or services (like massages, facials, etc.) that include cannabis-based products.
We recommend that you remove references to CBD or cannabis as our payments processor cannot process payments associated with CBD and cannabis-related items. This includes descriptions of your Services, your business' about section, products, photos, and social media accounts.
In the future, as federal legislation becomes clear, we'd like to be more flexible on this. For now, our payments processor has advised that these products and services are not supported.
Adult Content
Generally, we consider adult content or services as any business that offers or sells pornography and other sexually explicit materials (including literature, imagery, and other media) depicting nudity or explicit sexual acts; sites offering any sexually-related services such as prostitution, escorts, pay-per-view, adult live chat features; sexually-oriented items (e.g., adult toys); adult video stores and sexually-oriented massage parlors; gentleman's clubs, topless bars, and strip clubs; or any sexually-oriented dating services, among others.
